Preparing for your
Signature Headshot
A portrait is not made in the camera but on either side of it. — Edward Steichen
I will do everything I can to be fully prepared to rock your headshot session. You're the star of the show, though, so here are some suggestions on how to prepare for your headshot.
Clothing
For tops, solid colors are best, and try to avoid busy patterns and shiny material, which can distract from the primary subject (you) and can do all sorts of funny things under the lights. If you don't usually wear a suit to work, don't feel pressured to wear one for the shoot. Your images should reflect how people see you in your workspace!
Hair / Makeup
In terms of hair and makeup, keep it simple. Style your hair the way you normally would for work, and keep makeup as light and natural as possible. Also, everyone — including guys — can benefit from a good moisturizer.
Water
Drink plenty of it the morning of our shoot!
Jewelry/Accessories
Try to keep jewelry and accessories to a minimum for your shoot, as they can distract from the primary subject (again, you) and can also do fun things under the lights.
Glasses
If you normally wear glasses, you can choose to keep them on for the shoot or take them off. It's entirely up to you. Choose the option that makes you the most comfortable.
